Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Tessera ("Tessera", "we", "us") is a daily-practice app for learning financial accounting. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. If you have any questions, contact us at support@tesserastudy.app.

2. Our approach: local-only

Tessera is built to work fully offline. All of your information is stored locally on your device in the app's own database. We do not operate a backend server that receives your data, we do not require you to create an account, and we do not use any third-party analytics or advertising services.

3. What the app stores on your device

• Display name (optional). If you choose to enter a name during onboarding, it is stored locally and used only to greet you inside the app.
• Reminder time (optional). If you set a daily reminder, the time is stored locally and used to schedule a local notification on your device.
• Practice activity. Your progress, such as items attempted, mastery levels, streak count, daily goals, and experience points, is stored locally so the app can track your learning and schedule reviews.

All of the above stays on your device. None of it is sent to us.

4. What we do not collect

• No email address, phone number, mailing address, or government identifier.
• No advertising identifier or persistent device identifier.
• No location data, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access.
• No browsing or search history.
• No financial or payment card data. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple; your payment details never reach Tessera.

5. Tracking

We do not track you. Tessera does not follow you across other apps or websites, and contains no third-party advertising or analytics software.

6. Subscriptions and Apple

Tessera offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. Any data related to your purchase, billing, or subscription status is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. Tessera receives only the on-device receipt needed to unlock paid content; it never sees your payment information.

7. Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives only on your device, you are in control of it. You can erase your progress at any time using "Reset progress" in the app's settings, and deleting the app removes all of its local data from your device.

8. Children's privacy

Tessera is an educational tool intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information and transmits nothing off the device, it does not knowingly gather data from anyone, including children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's release notes.
